The Simi brothers, Giuseppe and Peitro produced the first wines here under the Simi name in 1876 -- later passing on the torch to Giuseppe's daughter Isabelle after the sudden death of both brothers. When prohibition began in 1920, Isabelle Simi engaged in a masterful strategy -- in anticipation of a quick repeal of the associated prohibition legislation, she sold all of the SIMI vineyard holdings but kept possession of the cellars. When prohibition was later repealed in December 1933, SIMI had possession of more than 500,000 gallons of wine ready to sell to the public. Through the 1900s, SIMI continued to grow; acquiring Landslide Vineyard & expanding into the Russian River Valley.

Where are the Simi Vineyards Located?

Simi has three world class vineyards in California: Landslide Vineyard, Alexander Vineyard, and Russian River Valley Vineyard.

Landslide Vineyard was created by a volcanic landslide by Mount St. Helena, imparting the area with unique properties. The vineyard is made up of 5 distinct soil types, 3 different sections, and several microclimates.
