Growing up in Iran, Darioush Khaledi was taught by his father (a winemaker) about wine, and a passion for winemaking inspired by wine culture in the city of Shiraz was instilled into him. Darioush became a collector of wines and sought out "old world wines infused with tradition and energized by modern technique". For him, wine wasn't a simple concept -- the history of wine, he opined, had accompanied the very concepts of hospitality, art, poetry, culture, and winecraft, and would continue to do so for millenia to come.

After immigrating to the US, Darioush Khaledi and his wife Shahpar later founded Darioush Winery in 1997 with a focus on Bordeaux-styled winemaking because they believed that this blended style would have a great contribution to the potential of a wine's character. Currently encompassing 120 acres, the Darioush Winery in Southern Napa Valley spans the Mount Veeder and Oak Knoll AVA's. Anchored by earthy notes of sandalwood and saddle leather, its sweet, ripe tannins support a long and deeply satisfying finish.

Darioush Signature Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 - Rated 92: Focused and fine-grained, with red and black currant paste flavors, flanked by singed alder and backed by a tug of loam through the finish. Frankly toasted on the finish, but there's ample fruit to soak that up with some cellaring. Best from 2022 through 2032.

What is Darioush Known For?

Besides its line of signature wines, Darioush is also known for the Persian architecture that resides all over the vineyard.
