Tasting Notes and Description

Tasting Notes For Tenute Silvio Nardi Brunello di Montalcino 2018

Indulge in the luxurious Tenute Silvio Nardi Brunello di Montalcino 2017, a true representation of the best of the Montalcino region. The intense ruby red color with garnet highlights hints at the complex aromas to come, with evolved overtones of anise, ripe wild berries, and a light touch of vanilla.

On the palate, warm and supple tannins provide great structure and length, with a considerable aging capacity that will only improve with time. This classic Brunello is made with only the finest grapes from the Manachiara and Casale del Bosco estates, and follows the strict DOCG laws required for a classified Brunello di Montalcino.

After being carefully handpicked and sorted, the fruit undergoes a fermentation and maceration process of at least 24 days at a controlled temperature of less than 86°F. The wine is then aged for 12 months in new and used French oak barriques (Allier), followed by 18 months in large Slavonian oak barrels. Finally, the wine is bottle-aged for at least 12 months before being released, ensuring that every sip of Tenute Silvio Nardi Brunello di Montalcino 2017 is nothing short of exceptional.

Critic Ratings

Robert Parker Wine Advocate Review - Rated 91:
Packaged with the burgundy-colored label, the Tenute Silvio Nardi 2018 Brunello di Montalcino reveals a darkly saturated, almost inky appearance with black ruby highlights. The bouquet is laced with dark cherry fruit and blackberry preserves, and there is juice and energy inside, which is very nice. A second wave of spice and mild tobacco adds to the wine's volume and intensity. I do feel the oak tannins.
Wine Spectator Review - Rated 91:
Shows depth and an opulent texture enveloping black cherry, plum, earth and soy flavors, with the foundation of dusty tannins leaving an astringent feel on the finish -- so think hearty foods and protein. Best from 2026 through 2045.
James Suckling Review - Rated 93:
I like the transparent savoriness here, with aromas of currants, dried cherries, chocolate, dried flowers and bark. Medium-bodied, with gently chewy tannins and a fine, fresh and elegant finish. Drink or hold.

Jeb Dunnuck Review - Rated 93:
The 2018 Brunello Di Montalcino is a powerful red with fleshy aromas of red plum, sweet balsamic, leather, and shitake. Full-bodied on the palate, with notes of meaty black cherry, dark soil, and tea leaf as well as gripping tannins, this robust and firmly structured wine needs to be cellared for at least a couple of years. Drink 2025-2035.
