Tasting Notes and Description
Tasting Notes For Sequoia Grove Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2019
Grapes come from the finest vineyard sites in Napa Valley’s best appellations, including Sequoia Grove and Tonella Estate vineyards in Rutherford, and select parcels from top Napa Valley growers. All fruit is hand sorted before a 1-2 day cold soak, then fermented in small batches, with pumpovers 2-3 times a day, and malolactic fermentation in barrel. The wine matured for 20 months in French (60%) and American oak barrels (40% new).
On the nose this wine has notes of sweet vanilla, pepper and spice followed by blackberry, strawberry, and berry pie. On the palate the wine is round and full bodied with notes of red fruit and bright acidity.
This wine is a serious expression of Napa Valley, showing classic dark, rich, blackberry and red cherry notes followed by savory, peppercorn characters that also highlight the signature of the varietal. Aromas of blackberries, leather, cedar, peppercorn, and a touch of vanilla are met on the palate with rich and racy dark plum and strawberries and hints of toasted nuts and cocoa powder.
