Raeburn Chardonnay Sonoma County 2023, a truly exceptional wine that tantalizes the senses with its rich, complex fruit tones and delicate balance of oak and vanilla. Every sip of this wine reveals a new layer of flavor, from the crisp notes of pear and Gravenstein apple to the luscious sweetness of nectarine. The wine is carefully crafted from 100% Chardonnay grapes that are barrel fermented and aged sur lie for 9 months in a combination of French and Hungarian oak, with 50% new oak to impart a subtle but distinct smoky flavor. The result is a wine that perfectly balances the richness of the fruit with the complexity of the oak, creating a truly elegant and satisfying finish.

The Russian River Valley is cooled by daily fog off the Pacific Ocean located a few miles to the west. Nearly every evening, fog flows up the Russian River channel and east through the Petaluma Gap producing diurnal temperature swings ranging from 35° to 40° F. Nature’s air conditioning allows our Chardonnay to ripen slowly while retaining its bright, natural acidity.

Raeburn is an Olde English term which means the river where one goes to drink. So it’s fitting that Raeburn’s expressive, beautifully balanced Chardonnay begins in the heart of the Russian River Valley where some of the world’s finest Chardonnay grapes are grown. Great fruit driven chardonnay, great price!

I am a hardcore red wine guy, but these Russian River Chardonnays really tempt me to the White side. Tropical fruit scents to open, followed by fruit driven flavors of mostly pineapple. Long, sweet vanilla finish. What a terrific summer wine at less than $16!!!!
