Tasting Notes and Description
Tasting Notes For Poggio San Polo Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 2012
Intense ruby red with garnet highlights. The characteristic aroma is intense, persistent, broad and ethereal. There are marked nuances of forest undergrowth, wood and spices and lighter notes of small red berries, a hint of vanilla and jammy fruit. The palate is dry and warm, with tannic overtones. The wine is robust, highly-structured and long-lasting, but at the same time elegant and well balanced.
The food pairings for Brunello Riserva must be in line with its noble stature, such as traditional Fiorentina T-bone steak, dishes prepared with wild boar, lamb, suckling pig and game. It also pairs well with fully matured cheeses such as Parmigiano Reggiano, Tuscan Pecorino, Provolone and Castelmagno. Serve in large balloon glasses at 18-20°C (65-68°F), opening the bottle two hours before drinking.
