Montes Purple Angel Carmenere 2021 is a captivating expression of the Carmenere grape, showcasing the distinct character of the Colchagua Valley and the meticulous winemaking of Montes. As the wine flows into the glass, it reveals an intense, deep purple color, offering a visual prelude to its richness.
The aromatic profile is an enticing fusion of dark fruits and spices. Aromas of ripe blackberries, plums, and black cherries mingle with hints of cocoa, tobacco, and a touch of vanilla from oak aging. On the palate, Purple Angel delivers a full-bodied and velvety experience. The dark fruit flavors persist, supported by well-integrated tannins and a subtle backbone of acidity.
Critic Ratings
James Suckling Review - Rated 97:
Terrific aromas of black fruit and blackcurrants with dried spices such as thyme, rosemary and oregano. Notes of dried figs, tomato leaves and blackberry leaves. Medium-bodied with very fine tannins that are polished and so attractive. Refined and caressing in the finish. Structured tannins at the end. Very drinkable and enjoyable now. Slightly low alcohol this year. Why wait?
