The 2022 vintage was the beginning of the end of the drought in Napa Valley. The vines were finally given a break with close to normal amount of rain in the winter preceding the vintage. 2022 was cooler overall than 2014 & 2015, it was warm and dry, but without the massive spikes in temperature that challenged the previous two years. 2022 was the kind of year where even a blind squirrel can find a nut, so most wineries could coast along and make good wine. We don’t coast, so 2022 was an epic vintage for us, one for the ages.
Critic Ratings
The iodine and umami character in the nose carries aromas of currants and plums, with chocolate, sage and hazelnuts. Full-bodied with an intensity of fruit. Extremely long and flavorful. Essentially the Hundred Acre DNA. Everything to one.
Darker berries, smoke, sweet tobacco, cigar, chocolate, and Asian spice are just some of the nuances in the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Wraith, which is aged 32 months in 100% new French oak. It's medium to full-bodied, has a concentrated, layered, elegant mouthfeel, sweet tannins, and a great finish. It brings classic Hundred Acre richness and fruit with a pure, layered, seamless style that's impossible to resist. Drink bottles over the coming two decades. Drink 2025-2045.
