Donnafugata Mille e Una Notte Nero d’Avola 2021 is an exquisite and powerful red wine, embodying the complexity and richness of Sicily’s premium terroirs. On the nose, it reveals deep aromas of black cherry, plum, and blackberry, interlaced with elegant notes of dark chocolate, tobacco, and sweet spices like vanilla and cinnamon. The palate is full-bodied and velvety, with layers of ripe black fruits, a hint of balsamic, and an earthy minerality that adds depth. Fine-grained tannins and a balanced acidity provide a solid structure, leading to a long, refined finish with lingering hints of licorice and spice.

A rich red, this leads with toasty smoke, mocha and licorice notes, accents to flavors of black currant, olive tapenade, bay leaf and dried dill. The muscular tannins are well-knit but lend a compact feel today that suggests decanting or short-term cellaring. Nero d'Avola, Petit Verdot and Syrah. Best from 2028 through 2038. 7,900 cases made, 200 cases imported.
