Tasting Notes and Description
Tasting Notes For Domaine Trapet Pere et Fils Gevrey-Chambertin AOC Ostrea 2017
Domaine Trapet Père & Fils Gevrey-Chambertin “Ostrea” 2017 hails from biodynamically farmed, old-vine parcels in Gevrey-Chambertin, named after the fossil-rich soils that define its terroir. Crafted with around 40% whole-cluster fermentation and aged in predominantly used oak, the wine exudes a sense of refinement and place. On the nose, it opens with broody yet captivating layers of blackberry, bilberry, and a subtle marine character. With a medium-bodied frame, the palate delivers sappy red fruit accented by a fine, refreshing line of acidity and a finish that’s polished, elegant, and effortlessly poised. Its balanced structure suggests it is ready to enjoy now but will gain even greater nuance with a few more years of age.
Critic Ratings
This is full-bodied and solid with dark-berry and strawberry aromas and flavors. Some forest fruit, too. The tannins spread across the palate, but remain integrated and fresh.
