Tasting Notes For Michael David Winery Freakshow Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

2020 was a year of extreme weather variation for the Lodi region; higher than average rain fall in the winter and a warm spring pushed the vines into early bud break and promoted vine growth early on. An unprecedented heat wave in August and September pushed the pace of harvest for white and earlier ripening red varietals, until temperatures cooled o in late September. This allowed late-season reds to finish maturing and fully ripen before picking.
Our 2020 showing of Freakshow Cabernet spotlights the power and finesse embraced by Michael David’s Strongman! This Cab is deep garnet in color with aromas of cranberry, dark chocolate, vanilla and exotic spice. He’s larger-than-life, medium in body, and boasts bold flavors of raspberry, cocoa nib and pepper that stand out from the oak and spice-laden finish.
