Col d'Orcia Olmaia Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 (750 ml) Tasting Notes
Olmaia is Col d'Orcia's historic Cabernet Sauvignon cru from Montalcino, planted in 1984 as an early expression of the variety in this celebrated Tuscan landscape. The vineyard became the estate's first Super Tuscan project and shows Cabernet through a distinctive combination of structure, elegance, and local character.
The wine matures for twenty-four months in medium-toast oak barriques, primarily French oak with a small American-oak component. For the 2018 growing season, the estate records a mild spring, warm early summer, intermittent August rain, and a harvest beginning around mid-September, conditions that framed this particular release.
