Post Scriptum de Chryseia 2023 is the partner wine to Chryseia, made from fruit grown at Quinta de Roriz and Quinta da Perdiz in the Douro's Cima Corgo. The producer describes the vintage as expressive, fresh and concentrated, with balance and elegance shaped by moderate summer conditions and a well-timed September harvest.
The blend comprises Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca and other varieties. Grapes are hand sorted, destemmed and selected before fermentation, then the wine matures for 12 months in second- and third-year French oak barrels, a method intended to keep the fruit clear and the tannins approachable.
Critic Ratings
James Suckling Review - Rated 93:
A fragrant, captivating nose of lavender, rosemary and blueberries. The palate is medium- to full-bodied with supple, polished tannins and very delicate, elegant fruit throughout. This cuvee only sees used oak. Drink now.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate Review - Rated 93:
The 2023 Post Scriptum de Chryseia was born as the second wine of Chryseia in a Bordeaux sense and was produced with grapes from the same vineyards that produce Chryseia. It is 50% Touriga Nacional, 25% Touriga Franca, 5% Tinta Roriz, 5% Tinta Barroca and 15% other varieties. It fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured in second- and third-year 400-liter French oak barrels for 12 months. It was a good year for Touriga Nacional, which ripened to perfection and achieved very good balance. The early-picked Touriga Franca was also very good—the grapes picked after the rain suffered a little more. The wine is very nicely crafted, a signature they have developed with Bruno Prats. It comes in at 14% alcohol with a pH of 3.7. This is now the style everybody is after—elegance with Douro character—but they started this style before most. 148,932 bottles produced. It was bottled in 2024.
Wine Spectator Review - Rated 91:
A stylish red, fresh and harmonious, with light, supple tannins and bright acidity creating a well-defined frame for flavors of ripe black plum and currant, mineral, herbed black olive, and minerally iron and stone. Lightly floral and lingering on the finish. Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Tinta Barroca. Drink now through 2036. 12,000 cases made, 1,300 cases imported.
