Tasting Notes and Description

Tasting Notes For Troublemaker Red Blend

The grapes for Troublemaker are sourced from key vineyard sites throughout the Central Coast, adding to the complexity of the blend. The warm climate of Paso Robles – specifically Creston, El Pomar, and Estrella Districts add body and depth to the wine. Other Central Coast vineyard sites were chosen for their unique characteristics, including dry farmed Zinfandel from Lodi, and Petite Sirah from Suisun Valley ultimately leading to a more complex blend.

Comprised of varietals that flourish in Paso Robles’ distinct growing region, Troublemaker consists of Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre Zinfandel and Petite Sirah. Syrah is the backbone of the wine, setting the stage for a fruit-forward style and a full body. Sweet and bright red fruit flavors of Grenache blend with the rustic and lively flavors of the Mourvèdre. The Zinfandel adds its signature zing to round out the blend and Petite Sirah contributes to the deep ruby color.

This intensely rich wine is deep purple in color and radiates aromas of black fruit, cherry and spicy black pepper. On the palate, loads of vanilla, caramel and black currant gracefully evolve into soft supple tannins and a signature zing that balances the wine.

Critic Ratings

Wine Enthusiast Review - Published 3/1/2021 - Rated 90:
This is a widely available, nonvintage blend of 54% Syrah, 15% Petite Sirah, 14% Grenache, 10% Mourvèdre and 7% Zinfandel. Aromas of caramelized black fruit, oak and black pepper lead into an extremely rich palate that's loaded with vanilla, caramel, fudge and black cherry. MATT KETTMANN

Enjoyable

We all have different tastes in Wine, so what I like may not be your cup of tea/wine. But I was surprised by how good this was with or without meals. I like to try different wines and I found this at Costco and for the price it was very good. I had to go back and buy some more.

Nothing but Trouble

If your looking for a great every night drinker for under $15.00, Troublemaker should fit the bill. In over 40 years of enjoying red wine, this has been our best go to wine. Therefore we order, "Nothing But Trouble.

Bold & Luscious Fruit

Have had several bottles of this wine over past 18 months. Great nose, excellent legs, very deep plum color. Luscious fruits on the tongue, smooth medium length finish, with some tannis coming through. Drinks nicely out of bottle, and does improve with breathing, 55-60 degrees is just right for opening. Pairs beautifully with Medium Rare BBQ Steak, Burgers, or Pork Ribs. Love with classic Charcuterie.
Enjoy this Big Red Blend from Austin Hope Winery, unbeatable Value.
