The palate is balanced and framed by silky tannins, with elderberry, cassis, black pepper, and chocolate-covered orange peel.

Red plum and sweet oak carry through the finish, giving the wine both youthful brightness and the structural seriousness associated with Opus One. The blend is led by Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec, followed by nineteen months in new French oak.

2022 Vintage Critic Ratings

James Suckling Review - Rated 96:
It is well structured and a bit tight, which is normal for a young cabernet sauvignon-based red that’s a proven collectible.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate Review - Rated 95:
The medium- to full-bodied palate is expansive and plush, finishing with ample length and soft tannins.
Jeb Dunnuck Review - Rated 94:
It’s medium to full-bodied on the palate, has a fresh, elegant, lively mouthfeel, fine tannins, and a great finish.
Wine Spectator Review - Rated 92:
There’s a subtle cedar shading through the finish, with a flicker of iron at the tail end.

Winery

Opus One

Country

United States

Region

Napa Valley, California

Year

2023

Grape Varietal

Bordeaux Red Blend

Size

750 ML

ABV

14.5%

Wine Style

Red Wine

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0113/3314/0561/files/Opus_One_Red_Wine_2016_1_2b131b26-9dd9-460d-88ea-2ea1f33c5962.jpg?v=1697124720
