Tasting Notes and Description
Tasting Notes For Louis Roederer Cristal Champagne 2014
This exceptional vintage offers an intense, bright and luminous golden hue with dynamic effervescence and a continuous stream of fine bubbles. The concentrated and candied citrus fruit bouquet mingle delicately with notes of grain and lightly roasted almonds, creating an intense and fragrant aroma of great purity.
On the palate, the fruity notes are complemented by soft bubbles that are perfectly integrated, giving a silky texture and deliciously elegant taste. The spicy and sappy structure resulting from partial ageing in large oak vats (foudres) adds a dense, juicy, and concentrated flavor to the wine. The finish builds to a crescendo, revealing a rich grainy and velvety texture that is wrapped in a long, saline, and superbly elegant finish.
This vivid Champagne has upfront and linear definition, thanks to rapierlike acidity, with finely meshed flavors of ripe black cherry and mandarin orange fruit, raw almond, anise and cardamom spice as well as a touch of honeycomb, which all unfurl and expand on the fine, creamy palate. Sleek acidity continues through to the finish, with additional racy character provided by a streak of minerally saline and chalk, which gains momentum through the mid palate and rings out on the well-cut, lasting finish. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Drink now
Lots of mineral and oyster-shell aromas with light toasted-bread and pie-crust undertones. Hints of caramel, apple and pear tart, too. Medium to full body with phenolic intensity and length. Intense at the finish, with driving acidity and length. Generous and expressive.
